Patricia Narayan Biography, Family, and Net Worth
As her name suggests, she was born in a Christian family from Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. She was the firstborn child in her conservative family.
Her childhood showered her with all the graces and blessings of God, as all her needs were satisfied by her parents. Therefore, “I was the apple of the eye of my parents,” she says.

But she didn’t know that her bad time was just about to start in her late teens. In her teens, she fell in love and married a Hindu Brahmin boy in 1977 without the consent of her family. As a result, nobody supported her when she wanted to escape from it.
When she decided to quit her life, she realized that she was indeed pregnant. Her priorities changed suddenly, she had no work experience to rely upon, and the only thing she could do was pursue her hobby.

Business Struggle of Patricia Narayan
“I loved cooking, cooking was my passion,” she said in her TEDx speech. And that’s how the journey began, starting with a few jams, squashes, and pickles.
Though it got sold she didn’t have any commercial kitchen, therefore, it didn’t produce much. But as rightly said, “Where there is will there is a way!” Her father’s friend gave her a small kiosk. Now, these kiosks didn’t sell anything else than cigarettes, coffee, and tea.
But she rather chose Marina Beach in Chennai to have her kiosk there, since she was well acquainted with that place. Back then, she had no idea she also needed some govt. permissions to set up a kiosk there.

But then, people there told her about getting the secretariat’s consent before doing any business. Since she had no recommendation letter, she wasn’t allowed to meet him.
She didn’t lose hope she went there daily in the hope that one day he would ask his colleagues who that lady is.
And surprisingly, it did happen! But things weren’t that easy! The permission-taking process took her one whole year.
And ultimately she opened her kiosk which involved items like French fries, cutlets, etc. Which no one else was selling those days.
Imagine, the first day’s sale was just a cup of coffee worth 50 paise. As a result, she was heartbroken. She went home and needed some motivation, which was provided by her mom. And, from the next day, there was no looking back.

Proud Moment for Patricia Narayan
When people ask about her education, Patricia Narayan says proudly, “I have done an MBA from my kiosk at Marina Beach”.
But this business was only running in the evening, so then she started looking for other catering contracts like Govt. and bank catering services.
Her breakthrough was when she got a contract at the National Institute of Port Management. Which made her serve about 1500-2000 people in a day.

In 2004, exactly 30 days after her daughter’s marriage, Patricia Narayan was on her way to Chennai, and she met with an accident. It was a head-on collision, and she lost both her son-in-law and her daughter.
Consequently, she lost all hope in life; she was left devastated. She thought everything was over! People started asking her will she even survive this. Then, her son pulled the business up by quitting his sailing job in the Merchant Navy.
But he too was new in this business. Slowly, she started pulling herself up, and she became her sole counselor. That was the time FICCI honored her Women’s Entrepreneur Award.
That gave her a lot of confidence and they started a business named after her daughter “Sandeepha”.
