This year’s World’s Best Awards survey was open for voting from January 11 through May 10, 2021, as COVID-19 limitations were lifted in destinations across the world. Readers have always been able to reflect on their travel experiences over three years thanks to survey guidelines.

We hope that the honorees this year will inspire your trips when you return to the globe. It may seem corny, but this year was unlike any other for cruise lines.

Even though the epidemic placed a halt to global sailing, users remembered their favorite days at sea when evaluating the world’s top ten mega-ship ocean cruise companies.

Every year for our World’s Best Awards poll, T+L invites readers to give their thoughts on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more from across the world.

Individual cruise ships were assessed by readers based on their rooms and amenities, cuisine, service, itineraries and locations, excursions and activities, and value.

These evaluations were integrated to provide cruise line results in five categories; mega-ship ocean cruise lines have ships that can transport 2,200 people or more. Here is the complete list of:

Top 10 Biggest Cruise Ship in The World

1. The Walt Disney Cruise Line

The world’s No. 1 mega-ship line’s charm still shines brightly. The Walt Disney Cruise Line is still a reader favorite this year, as it was in 2020, because of its beautiful vacations that attract both parents and children. “I truly adore them,” said one reader who took the Disney Fantasy.

“We enjoy the live entertainment, the food is always delicious, and we like the cabin sizes and verandas. I wish they offered more departures from Port Canaveral, Florida.”

Other reviewers commended the service for making journeys convenient for families of various sizes. “Disney has it all worked out, and they make sure nothing goes wrong,” claimed one reader who has traveled with the corporation on several occasions. “We’ve taken Disney cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska multiple times, with a mix of our children and grandchildren.

They provide activities for people of all ages. They can even make teenagers happy!” Even those who were not traveling with children were delighted with Disney’s vacations. “It was our first voyage without our kids in 15 years, and it was just as amazing,” one reader remarked of an eight-night Mediterranean cruise onboard the Disney Magic.

“They’re the greatest,” one tourist commented, recalling a voyage aboard the Seabourn Encore. “We never cruise with any other line. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, the service is excellent, and the cuisine is tasty and diverse.” Other voters were as enthusiastic with what Seabourn had to offer.

“Excellent service, lovely ship with plenty of open space, and accommodations are tastefully decorated,” observed one Seabourn Encore passenger.

3. Wonder of the Seas

The Royal Caribbean International-owned Wonder of the Seas is the world’s biggest cruise ship. It was completed in January of 2022. The 1,188-foot-long ship will begin operations in March 2022. It is the sixth ship in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class fleet. This floating society has a capacity of 6,988 people and 2,300 staff members.

The marvel of the seas is outfitted with four bow thrusters, each rated at 7500 horsepower. This ship can cruise at speeds of up to 22 knots.

5. The Seas’ Harmony

Harmony of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean Oasis-Class ship, follows closely after her sister ship. Harmony of the Seas, the third vessel in the “Oasis-class” series, was delivered in May 2016 by STX France at its Saint-Nazaire shipyard.

Harmony of the Seas has a maximum beam of 66m and a gross tonnage of 226,963 GT. This largest yacht can seat 5,479 passengers at double occupancy and has 2,747 cabins with simulated balconies.

Harmony of the Seas, like her sister ships, has all of Royal Caribbean’s distinctive attractions, such as Central Park, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Centre, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, and Entertainment Place.

6. The Allure of the Seas

The allure of the Seas, a 362m-long Oasis-class cruise ship, ranks fourth after her sister ship on the list. The allure of the Seas is the second Royal Caribbean cruise ship in the Oasis-class series, built at the STX Europe shipyards in Turku, Finland.

She was formerly the biggest passenger ship in operation. The vessel has a 225,282GT gross tonnage, a height of 72m, and a maximum beam of 60.5m.

The allure of the Seas, which was delivered in October 2010, has a capacity of 5,400 people in double occupancy. The opulent cruise ship has a two-deck dance hall, a 1,380-seat theatre, an ice skating rink, a concierge club and spa, and exercise facilities, among other amenities.

The vessel has 16 passenger decks and can carry 5,400 people at double occupancy and a maximum of 6,296 passengers. For its guests, the Oasis of the Seas provides two-story loft rooms and deluxe suites with balconies.

7. Costa Smeralda

The Costa Smeralda, named after Sardinia’s Emerald Coast, is a technologically sophisticated LNG-powered cruise ship operated by the Italian cruise operator Costa Cruises.

It is Costa Cruises’ biggest cruise ship, measuring 337 m in length and 42 m in width and carrying 185,100 GT. It has a capacity of 6554 passengers and 1646 crew members.

She began her first trip in December of 2019 and is presently operating in the Mediterranean Sea. The ship is developed with several sustainable technologies in mind, resulting in a “Smart floating City” that gives luxury to its guests while also helping the environment minimize its carbon imprint.

It is 345 meters long and has 17 passenger decks. Iona, with a gross tonnage of 185,000, can carry 5,200 guests and 1,800 staff members for a high-end hospitality experience.

9. AIDA Nova

AIDA nova by AIDA Cruises is the world’s first cruise ship that can be fueled by liquefied natural gas both at sea and in port. It is now the world’s eighth biggest ship. With a gross tonnage of around 183,900 GT, a length of 337 meters, and a width of 42 meters, the AIDAnova offers almost 2,600 passenger staterooms.

AIDA nova is the first ship of MEYER WERFT’s Helios class, which is designed for the AIDA CRUISES cruise line. Following AIDAnova, Carnival Corporation has placed an order for ten next-generation “green” cruise ships that will be powered by LNG in port and at sea, with delivery dates ranging from 2019 to 2025, putting it at the forefront of the cruise industry’s usage of LNG to power cruise ships.

10. MSC Grandiosa

The MSC Grandiosa, which debuted in November 2019, is a Meraviglia Plus-Class cruise ship, which means it is larger than its predecessor, the MSC Meraviglia, which debuted in 2017. MSC Cruises operates it, and the new flagship is 331 meters long (16 meters longer than MSC Meraviglia).

It can transport a maximum of 6334 people in its 2421 cabins and has 181, 541 GT. It also boasts the greatest capacity shopping space on the cruise ship. MSC Grandiosa commenced service on the Mediterranean route from Genova on January 24, 2021.
