Why Is Taylor Swift Rerecording Her Albums?
Two years after Braun bought Swift’s old label, Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records, Swift began rerecording her albums in 2021. According to her 2019 Tumblr post, Swift had quit Republic Records and urged Borchetta to allow her to buy back her work.
She could keep recording albums for Big Machine and “earn” her songs back, he said. She declined, and Borchetta sold to a man Swift alleged had tormented and gaslighted her for years, partially through his client West, who Swift accused of filming “a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked.”
“From the Vault” releases include new tracks she created for the albums but didn’t put on the originals. Swift plans to rerecord Taylor Swift and Reputation, Braun’s first and final albums but has not announced a release date.
