After coming to Mumbai, he studied at Atomic Energy Central School No 4. He was a classmate of Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal. He took JEE exams to enter the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology.

He completed the questions that he knew in forty minutes. Later, he went to the invigilator to ask for a supplement and was denied to give. He came back to his seat and read the instructions.

One of the instructions said, “Tie all the supplements correctly in the right order.” He took the instructions to the invigilator and asked to order supplements. He was quite upset that he lost time in supplements.
Despite this, Parag Agarwal ranked 77th in IIT joint entrance exams. He opted for computer science at IIT Bombay. He completed his B Tech degree in computer science in 2005.
He later moved to the United States to pursue a PhD in computer science from Stanford University. He was guided by Jennifer Widom.

IIT Bombay To Twitter CEO Journey of Parag Agarwal
Parag Agarwal completed his education in computer science at IIT Bombay in 2005. Post that, he left for the United States. He was admitted to Sandford for PhD in Computer Science.

He was announced to be the CEO of Twitter in November 2021 by Jack Dorsey, who was the erstwhile CEO. Jack Dorsey has quoted that “Parag has been behind every critical decision that helped us this company turn around.
