The teams competed in eight round – robin groups of four teams for points are played in the first round of the tournament finals. 

The top two teams in each group proceed to the further stage. After these, the 16 teams will enter to the knockout stage. Each team will play three rounds of play to decide the team to participate in the final which will be held on 18^th December 2022 at Lusail Stadium. It is also the Qatar National day.
