On October 28, 1995, Bill Gates was born in Seattle, Washington to William Gates and Mary Maxwell Gates. He is the son of William H. Gates Sr. and Mary Maxwell Gates.
His father was a prominent lawyer while his mother was board of directors of First Interstate BancSystema and United Way of America. Bill Gates has an elder Kristi and a younger sister Libby.
Gates’s family lived in a home in the Sandpoint area of Seattle which was washed away in a rare tornado when Bill was seven years old. The family encouraged competition. There always was a reward for winning and a penalty for losing.

About Bill Gates and his Early life
At the age of 13, Bill Gates enrolled in a private school named Lakeside Prep School. At the age of 13, he wrote his first program. He was given an exemption from Math classes to pursue his interest in building codes.
He builds his code for simple tic-tac-toe on a GE computer. At 17, Gates formed a venture with Allen called Traf-O-Data to make traffic counters based on the Intel 8008 processor.
He served as a congressional in the House of Representatives in the year 1972. He was a National Merit Scholar when he graduated from Lakeside School in 1973.

In the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) he scored 1590 out of 1600. In the Autumn of 1973, he too admitted to Harvard College. He opted for a pre-law Major.
However, he opted to graduate in level computer science courses and mathematics. While at Harvard, he met fellow student Steve Ballmer. Two years later Gates left Harvard but Ballmer stayed and completed his graduation.
Later on, Ballmer became CEO of Microsoft. He joined as CEO in 2000 and resigned in 2014.

Personal Life of Bill Gates
Gates and Melinda French married on the Hawaiian Island of Lanai on January 1, 1994. With the marriage, Melinda permitted Gates to spend some time with his ex-girlfriend, Ann Winblad.
Melinda and Bill Gates have three children viz Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe. Gate family has a residence on the side of a hill overlooking Lake Washington in Medina, Washington.
The residence is an earth-sheltered house. But after seven years of courtship and twenty-seven years of marriage, Bill and Melinda Gates announced that they had decided to divorce.
The couple said they will keep working together on charitable efforts. They announced their divorce on 3rd May 2021.

How Bill Gates Establish Microsoft
At a very young age and a solution to an unsolved problem, Gates developed an algorithm for sorting pancakes. He presented it in the combinatorics class by Professor Harry Lewis.
For over 30 years, his solution is held as a record for being the fastest version which was formalized and published in collaboration with Havard computer scientist Shristos Papadimitriou. The faster successor is only by 2%.
Gates was in contact with Paul Allen. He joined him at Honeywell in the summer of 1974. In 1975, Gates read in Popular Electronics which demonstrated Altair 8800. Gates and Allen had not written any code for Altair but wanted to gauge MITS’s interest.
So, they contacted MITS and informed them that they were working on a BASIC interpreter for the platform. Ed Roberts, the MITS President, decided to meet Gates for the demonstration which was held at MITS’s office in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Over a few weeks, they developed an Altair emulator that ran on a minicomputer, and then the BASIC interpreter. Thus MITS Altair 8800 was released based on Intel 8080 CPU. This gave hope to Gates and Allen that they could start their own company.
His family too supported Gates in his passion for starting his own company. That very year he dropped out of Harvard and stated that “if things hadn’t worked out, I could always go back to school.

In 19080, IBM approached Microsoft to develop software for its upcoming personal computer the IBM PC. Initially, IBM proposed to write the BASIC interpreter.
Microsoft launched its first retail version of Microsoft Windows on November 20, 1985, in an attempt to fend off competition from Apple’s Macintosh GUI.
In August of the following year, the company got into a deal with IBM to develop a separate operating system called OS/2. The operating system grew out of DOS until Windows 95 the DOS text screen was relegated to the closet.

Windows XP reportedly was the first to not be based on DOS. By 2020, the latest version of Windows will be Windows 10.
From 1975 till 2006, Gates shouldered the primary responsibility for the product strategy of Microsoft.
He was known for being distant from others. In 1981, one of the industry executives grumbled that “Gates is notorious for not being reachable by phone and for not returning phone calls.”
Gate was defeated 35 times out of 37 as told by one of the Atari. When they met again a month later, Gates “won or tied every game. He has researched the game till he solved it. That is a competitor”.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Gates was the world’s highest-earning billionaire in 2013 as his net worth increased by US$15.8 billion to US$78.5 billion.
As of January 2014, most of Gates’s assets are held in Cascade Investment LLC, an entity through which he owns stakes in numerous businesses such as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and Corbis Corp.
