Top 10 Best Universities in Australia

The finest university in Australia this year is the Australian National University (ANU). ANU continues to be ranked higher than Australia’s second-best university, the University of Melbourne but dropped five spots internationally in the QS World University Rankings 2020.

Only five of the 35 Australian institutions that will be listed this year have dropped in position from the previous year, with ANU being one of them. Australian universities have advanced significantly overall.

A rise in the percentage of overseas students at several Australian institutions has contributed to this development.

Nine of the world’s 50 most internationally diversified universities are now Australian, and 26 of the 35 rated schools have improved their score in this category from the previous year’s ranking. Here is a complete list of:

1. Australian National University (ANU)

Australian National University (ANU) has once again been ranked first in Australia, and its impressive achievement is aided by the fact that it did well in all but one of the ranking parameters.

The distance between ANU and the other top universities is undoubtedly closing, as only one of the top 10 institutions fell in ranking this year.

2. University of Melbourne

Nearly 40% of the students at the University of Melbourne are international, making up a fairly varied student body. It also has the distinction of being Australia’s top institution in terms of reputation among academics and employers.

3. University of Sydney

The University of Sydney was founded in 1850, the Institution of Sydney has maintained its position as Australia’s third-best university while also being its oldest.

It also performs better than both of the institutions above it in terms of the percentage of international students.

4. University of New South Wales

5. University of Queensland

The University of Queensland, which is primarily headquartered in the state capital of Brisbane, is the first of our major universities in Australia to be ranked among the top 50 universities in the world.

Monash University, which is mostly situated in Melbourne but has five campuses in the state of Victoria and two abroad in Malaysia and South Africa, rose just one spot in the worldwide rankings this year.

It is among the top 50 institutions in the world for both academic standing and employer reputation.

7. University of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia is the first of seven Australian universities to rank among the top 100 universities in the world.

It performs better than all other Australian universities above it in terms of the percentage of international faculty members and the number of citations per faculty member (a measure of research output).

8. University of Adelaide

The Australian Research Council’s Excellence in Scientific Australia (ERA), a national framework for evaluating research, has acknowledged the University of Adelaide for its advances in several research fields (ARC).

It now resides just outside the top 100 in the globe after moving up eight positions this year.

9. University of Technology Sydney

University of Technology Sydney (UTS) was founded in its current form in 1988, making it one of the top Australian universities that are the youngest.

UTS, which this year improved its worldwide standing by 20 spots, is placed among the top 100 in the world for four of the six ranking factors, including employer reputation.

10. University of Newcastle, Australia

The University of Newcastle was established in 1965 and has its main campus in the Callaghan neighborhood of Newcastle, New South Wales, not to be mistaken with its namesake in the UK.

There are over 26,600 students enrolled there, distributed among six campuses, one of which is in Singapore.
